Patrick Downs, MBA, MS, POPM

Founder & CEO | Executive IT, Product & Transformation Leader

Onyx Ingenuity is a Miami, FL based enterprise software and technology company founded in 2020, privately held and product-led, developing customer-controlled delivery decision and evidence infrastructure for complex and regulated organizations. Its proprietary software is in active development, supported by selective implementation and advisory services, and the firm is built on a simple conviction: strategy only matters when it survives contact with execution.

Patrick Downs is the Founder and CEO of Onyx Ingenuity. He leads product strategy, enterprise architecture, and customer deployment, drawing on fifteen-plus years across healthcare technology, enterprise systems, cybersecurity, data, and large-scale transformation. His delivery record spans hospitals and health systems, from standalone institutions to integrated delivery networks, academic medical centers, joint academic and clinical enterprises, and pediatric health systems. It extends across higher education, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, automotive retail at national scale, and consumer retail and e-commerce. Earlier regulated-industry work includes aerospace supply quality, where part source, lot traceability, and certification evidence are audited against program requirements before release.

Patrick operates at the intersection of strategy, execution, and technology. He has held senior project, portfolio, and product leadership roles with director-level scope, owning outcomes across IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, IAM, ERP and EHR platforms, cloud modernization, and enterprise product development. His work consistently translates executive vision into scalable, measurable results.

Enterprise Leadership & Impact

Patrick has led and delivered initiatives valued from six figures to $190M+, overseeing full lifecycle execution from strategy and funding approval through delivery, stabilization, and optimization. That body of work includes a merger and acquisition integration at the $190M scale, product leadership for a finance analytics platform credited with $15M in cost savings, and digital retail transformation across a store network numbering in the hundreds.

At the University of Miami and UHealth, Patrick served as a Senior Technical IT Project and Product Manager, leading a broad portfolio across ERP (Workday), cybersecurity, IAM, infrastructure, data platforms, and EHR integrations. He partnered directly with C-suite leaders, boards, and executive councils to prioritize demand against IT roadmaps, manage capital allocation, and drive adoption in highly regulated healthcare and academic environments.

At Cleveland Clinic, Patrick served as a Project Manager IV, leading finance and IT programs spanning domestic and international hospital operations, product leadership for a finance analytics platform, ERP and EHR migrations, and continuous improvement initiatives. At AutoNation, he served as a Sr. Project Manager / Product Manager, covering enterprise Workday implementations, merger and acquisition integration, and digital retail transformation across stores and customer-facing platforms. At Noven Pharmaceuticals, he served as a Sr. IT Project Manager / Product Manager, spanning IT roadmapping, cybersecurity modernization, and PMO standards in a GxP-regulated environment, working to FDA, GAMP5, and 21 CFR Part 11 requirements. And at Florida International University, he served as an Adjunct Professor supporting medical and healthcare-focused programs, bridging clinical education, technology, and operational workflows while applying his background in health informatics, simulation, and IT systems to strengthen real-world readiness.

Across these roles, Patrick has consistently acted as the connective tissue between executive leadership, technical teams, vendors, and end users, ensuring strategy translates into execution without losing velocity or governance.

Product, Program & Financial Ownership

Patrick's leadership extends beyond delivery into true ownership: managing multi-million-dollar portfolios, forecasts, and vendor contracts; serving as Product Owner and Product Manager for enterprise platforms and digital products; building and prioritizing roadmaps aligned to business outcomes; leading Agile, hybrid, and waterfall teams across engineering, data, security, and operations; and presenting directly to CIOs, CISOs, CFOs, and executive committees on risk, ROI, and delivery health. His ability to balance financial discipline, technical depth, and stakeholder alignment is a defining differentiator.

Education & Credentials

Patrick holds an MBA in Healthcare Management and an MS in Health Informatics & Analytics, and is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) concentrated in Management & Cybersecurity, with anticipated completion in late 2026.

He is a Certified SAFe® 6 Product Owner/Product Manager and a Certified SAFe® AI-Empowered Product Owner/Product Manager, holds a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, and is certified in Advanced Google Analytics 4. He maintains active involvement with professional organizations including PMI, AHIMA, and ACHE.

Beyond the Enterprise

Beyond the enterprise work, Patrick brings a design-driven and creative mindset to everything he builds, with professional experience in photography and aerial drone media producing visual content for events, automotive storytelling, and brand narratives. He is an automotive enthusiast with a deep appreciation for engineering excellence, performance heritage, and intentional design; his curated collection anchors the Digital Garage, Onyx Ingenuity's creative platform for storytelling and content aligned with the brand's philosophy. A background in DJing and music production rounds out his conviction that the strongest innovation emerges where structure meets creativity.
