Founded by Patrick Downs, Onyx Ingenuity is led with a hands-on, principal-driven approach. Patrick brings experience across enterprise IT, healthcare systems, cybersecurity, and digital transformation, combining technical depth with strategic execution and leadership.

Patrick Downs, MBA, MS, POPM
Founder & CEO | Executive IT, Product & Transformation Leader
Patrick Downs is the Founder and CEO of Onyx Ingenuity, LLC, bringing over a decade of experience leading multi-million-dollar programs, enterprise platforms, and digital transformation initiatives across healthcare, higher education, pharmaceuticals, automotive, retail, manufacturing, and technology-driven organizations.
Patrick operates at the intersection of strategy, execution, and technology. He has held senior project, portfolio, and product leadership roles with director-level scope, owning outcomes across IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, IAM, ERP/EHR platforms, cloud modernization, and enterprise product development. His work consistently translates executive vision into scalable, measurable results.
Enterprise Leadership & Impact
Patrick has led and delivered initiatives with budgets ranging from six figures to $190M+, overseeing full lifecycle execution from strategy and funding approval through delivery, stabilization, and optimization.
At the University of Miami and UHealth, Patrick served as a Senior Technical IT Project and Product Manager, leading a broad portfolio across ERP (Workday), cybersecurity, IAM, infrastructure, data platforms, and EHR integrations. He partnered directly with C-suite leaders, Boards, and executive councils to prioritize demand against IT roadmaps, manage capital allocation, and drive adoption in highly regulated healthcare and academic environments.
Prior to and alongside UM, Patrick has delivered critical work for nationally recognized organizations, including:
Cleveland Clinic – Led finance and IT programs supporting domestic and international hospitals, including product leadership for a finance analytics platform that drove $15M in cost savings, ERP/EHR migrations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
AutoNation – Owned product and program delivery for enterprise Workday implementations, a $190M M&A integration, and digital retail transformation initiatives spanning hundreds of stores and customer-facing platforms.
Noven Pharmaceuticals – Directed IT roadmapping, cybersecurity modernization, PMO standards, and product ownership in a GxP-regulated environment, ensuring compliance with FDA, GAMP5, and 21 CFR Part 11 requirements.
Florida International University (FIU) - Served as an Adjunct Professor, where he taught and supported medical and healthcare-focused programs, contributing to the training and development of future healthcare professionals. In this role, he helped bridge clinical education, technology, and operational workflows, reinforcing best practices in healthcare systems, data, and process improvement.
In addition to his teaching role, Patrick supported medical student training initiatives, applying his background in health informatics, simulation, and IT systems to enhance learning environments and real-world readiness.
ScribeAmerica – Led and supported the implementation of Workday Financials and Workday Adaptive Planning, while continuing to drive enterprise IT initiatives and operational stabilization. Patrick played a key role in standardizing project management practices across the IT organization, improving delivery discipline, financial visibility, and cross-functional execution. He worked closely with the President/CEO, CISO, and Finance Directors, supporting strategic initiatives across financial systems, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and IT governance within a fast-scaling healthcare services environment.
Across these engagements, Patrick has consistently acted as the connective tissue between executive leadership, technical teams, vendors, and end users, ensuring strategy translates into execution without losing velocity or governance.

Patrick’s leadership extends beyond delivery into true ownership:

Patrick holds:
MBA – Healthcare Management
MS – Health Informatics & Analytics
He is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) with a concentration in IT Management and Cybersecurity, with an anticipated completion in late 2026.
He is a Certified SAFe® Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM) and maintains active involvement with professional organizations, including PMI, AHIMA, and ACHE.
Beyond Consulting
Beyond executive consulting, Patrick brings a design-driven and creative mindset to everything he builds. He has professional experience in photography and aerial drone media, producing visual content for events, automotive storytelling, and brand narratives.
He is also an automotive enthusiast with a deep appreciation for engineering excellence, performance heritage, and intentional design. His curated vehicle collection reflects long-term value and craftsmanship and serves as a creative platform for storytelling and content creation aligned with his brand philosophy.
Additionally, Patrick has a background in DJing and music production, reinforcing his belief that the strongest innovation emerges where structure meets creativity.
